Get ready for the festive season

The celebrity stylist friends of nuusuite are always sharing their great tips on hairstyles. We’re sharing their secrets so you can benefit.

1.     The bombshell blowout

Big blowouts and bouncy curls will ensure you have the perfect hair for any Christmas party. Channel your inner Blake Lively and start from the bottom, pinning the top layer of hair out of your way. Using a round brush, take the hair from the root and run the brush down each strand, moving the blow-dryer over the brush as you go. Then, using a flat iron glide over each strand stopping before the tip so the hair gains a slightly tousled effect and your left with a high-style, low fuss look causing hair envy wherever you go.

2.     More is more

Christmas is the perfect excuse to try out a new hair accessory, so don’t be afraid to be daring! Ornate and playful accessories can turn the most ordinary styles into works of art. Trim your up-do’s with accouterments such as bold flowers, or use stunning golden accessories that you can use to brighten up any up-do. Try colours in green or red if you want something particularly festive.

3.     Braided up-do

This is an ultra classic style and will look great at festive parties this year, bringing laid back luxury to any look. Create a regular chignon, leaving out the front thirds of your hair. Proceed to French-braid the remaining parts of your hair and pin into the chignon. Spray with hairspray for extra long hold.

4.     Curls world

There’s no time like the Christmas season to embrace the most extravagant hairstyles, so try curls for a look which will create a statement. Starting from the back off your hair, grab a small section and use a curling wand to achieve curls – how big or loose you want this to look is up to you. You should finish by applying hairspray to your hair, holding the can diagonally and away from your face. This look will show how trend aware you are and will set you ahead of the crowd, so don’t be afraid to add as much volume as you dare – use a comb to gently backcomb and set with hairspray. You can then put the hair up for an extra dramatic twist.

5.     The Half up-do

This is a romantic hairdo that’s elegant but actually very low maintenance, hardly taking two minutes to create, so it’s perfect if you’re rushing to a party after a day at the office. Loosely gather the top half of your hair and pin it in place. Make sure there is volume at the top, otherwise it will end up looking flat and limp, so do some gentle backcombing if necessary. For this style, I recommend using bobby pins that are similar to your hair colour, so that the effect is more subtle and don’t forget to use hairspray to keep the hair in place and avoid humidity.
